Orbit Donate an amazing Hamper to Home-Start Medway

Nicki Chapman & Orbit’s Andy McDermott present us with the most amazing Hamper from The Kent Hamper Company.

At its recent ‘Taste of Kentish Living’ celebration, housing association and home builder Orbit, which is helping to create the sustainable new community Peters Village in Wouldham, donated a huge fund-raising hamper, filled with locally-produced food and wines, to charity Home-Start.

Project leader Gill Valentine and trustee Jacqueline O’Carroll from Home-Start Medway, the charity’s nearest branch to Peters Village, were invited to talk about Home-Start’s vital work in supporting vulnerable young families in Kent, and the importance of real communities to family life.

Orbit’s Andy McDermott was joined by Kent-born TV and radio presenter Nicki Chapman, (who was present as an ambassador for Kent), in surprising Gill and Jacqueline with the gourmet gift, created especially for them by local small business, The Kent Hamper Company.

Andy McDermott commented, “We have huge respect for the work Home-Start does in supporting vulnerable families, and are delighted to present them with this gift, which we hope will help them raise funds to support provision of their vital services.”

Nicki Chapman added:

“Hearing about the tremendous work that Home-Start does within the county with young families was so inspiring. As a proud ‘maid of Kent’ it’s always such a pleasure to also be promoting this beautiful part of the country.”
