Meet the Team!
RAZ GOODRED: CEO
Allow me to introduce myself; I am Raz Goodred, the CEO of Home-Start Medway. I am entrusted with the strategic management of our charity. With a deep-rooted passion for early childhood education and over 28 years of extensive experience within the social care sector, both in statutory and voluntary services, I am honoured to lead our team in our mission to make a positive impact on the lives of families living in Medway.

Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working across various sectors within social care, gaining invaluable insights and experiences that have shaped my approach to supporting families in need. Whether in statutory or voluntary services, my focus has always been on empowering families, advocating for their rights, and providing them with the resources and support they require to thrive.
As the CEO of Home-Start Medway, I am committed to ensuring that we continue to deliver impactful programmes and services that address the evolving needs of the families we serve. Guided by our core values of compassion, empathy, and dedication, I am committed to fostering a collaborative environment where our team can innovate, grow, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
It is both an honour and a privilege to lead such a dedicated team of professional Staff and Volunteers who share a common vision of building stronger, more resilient communities. Together, we strive to create a brighter future for every family we support, one filled with hope and opportunities, as ‘childhood cannot wait’.
Thank you for the opportunity to introduce myself and share my commitment to the mission of Home-Start Medway. I look forward to working together to create positive change and transform the lives of families in our community.
YVETTE PHILPOTT - DOMESTIC ABUSE CO-ORDINATOR
Hi I’m Yvette and I am the Domestic Abuse Co-Ordinator at Home-Start Medway.
I support Families in their own home in a number of different ways with both emotional and practical support to hopefully help these families re-build their life’s after leaving or fleeing a Domestic Abuse relationship.
Along with our volunteers we are also the first point of contact for anyone visiting the One-Stop-Shop which is a weekly drop in for anyone affected by Domestic Abuse, anyone can come along and meet with different local DA charities and organisations all offering advice and support in one place.
On average it takes 7 attempts before a woman is able to leave for good as leaving is a process not a single act.
Home-Start Medway can now support to be part of this process and help to keep these women and children safe.
ANNA GLASCOTT - VOLUNTEER CO-ORDINATOR
Hi, I’m Anna Glascott, and I’m the Volunteer Coordinator at Home-Start Medway. In my role, I recruit, train, and support our amazing volunteers, and I manage a varied caseload of families who come to us for support. I love taking the time to match families and volunteers in a way that feels natural and supportive, and I also work directly with families who have more complex needs to make sure they feel heard, understood, and empowered.
Alongside my work at Home-Start, I’m also a Trustee for a local youth work charity. I specialise in safeguarding and act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), offering advice, oversight, and reassurance to help create a safe and positive culture across the organisation.
I hold a BA (Hons) JNC in Youth and Community Work and an MA in Advanced Child Protection, and I’m passionate about supporting families, building volunteer confidence, and promoting safe, compassionate practice in everything I do.
Outside of work, you’ll usually find me watching true‑crime documentaries, singing along to musical theatre soundtracks, obsessing over Taylor Swift, or spending time with my dogs, all things that bring me joy, balance, and plenty of personality.

SAFIA FLETCHER- VOLUNTEER CO-ORDINATOR
Hi, I’m Safia, and I’m excited to be a Volunteer Co-ordinator at Home-Start Medway. I recently moved to Medway from London, where I spent 10 years working with Premier Inn. After relocating, I felt inspired to take on a role that would allow me to support families and make a positive impact in the community.
As a mum of two lively toddlers, I understand the joys and challenges that come with early parenthood. This personal experience motivates me to help families feel supported and to ensure children have the best possible start in life.
When I do find a little spare time, I love cooking and baking — especially trying out new recipes for my family. I’m really happy to be part of the Home-Start team and look forward to helping volunteers feel confident, valued, and ready to make a difference.

SARAH RUSE - GROUP WORKER
Hi
I am Sarah, and I am the group worker for Home-Start Medway.
I have worked with children for 13 years and have previously supported 4–11-year-olds in a school settings as a higher level Ta, working in early years mainly.
Early years is my passion and delivering the Tiny Talkers sessions for 2–3-year-olds is the best job that I could wish for.
Tiny Talkers is a targeted intervention that I facilitate on my own with support from a small group of volunteers.
It is targeted for children inthe 2–3-year-old age bracket that are not meeting expected developmental speech and language milestones during their ASQ check.
We run 4 weekly sessions that are themed and help to support and develop their language skills whilst having lots of fun.

LAURA SPARKS - GROUP WORKER
Hi, I’m Laura, one of the group workers for Homestart Medway. After 6 years of working as a dinner lady and helping in the classroom at my children’s primary school I decided to become a volunteer at Home-start Medway and I loved it so much that I jumped at the chance to become part of the team!
I support the wonderful Steph and Sarah with our Little Adventurers and Tiny Talkers programmes. I feel my experience as a mum of 2 helps me to engage with both the children and the parents and I love watching the progress the children make.
Outside of work you will find me escorting my children to numerous clubs and activities along with enjoying walks with my fur baby, Buddy, the cockapoo.

STEPH PARSONS - EARLY YEARS PRACTITIONER
Hello, my name is Steph and I am the Early Years Practitioner for Home-Start Medway. Over my 12 years of experience, I have worked in various schools and nurseries, mainly based in the Early Years. I have also supported children throughout their school life with their Speech and Language needs, as this is also a passion on mine. Now I am working alongside the team at Home-Start Medway to provide support groups to children between 1 and 7 years old who are referred to us. We then work with the parents/carers and their children to support their mile stones and general development. I will also be working alongside Sarah during half term/summer holidays to provide our families with days out and fun activities.

I am the Office Administrator and the first point of contact for all enquiries. I help keep the organisation running smoothly by ensuring our day-to-day operations are organised, efficient, and streamlined.
